What goes with a movie night better than popcorn?  It can’t be said enough … I love popcorn.  It is so delicious.  I am a popcorn purist.  All I need is a little bit of butter and salt, and I am set.  My family, however, likes the sweet popcorn.  For our Christmas Eve Eve celebration with a How the Grinch Stole Christmas theme, Laurie and I came up with this salty and sweet Grinch Popcorn.  It’s the perfect snack for everyone in the family. Make sure you get out all of the un- popped kernels. Watch Get Lucky Dailymotion. You don’t want to bite down on one of those! We pop our popcorn on the stove (you can find our directions on How to Make Perfect Popcorn here) but you can use air- popped or microwave.

Once you have the popcorn made, salt it liberally. It is so nice to taste the salty with the sweet marshmallow coating. Not quite like Kettle Corn but close. Then make sure you pull out all of the un- popped kernels. You don’t want to bite into one of those!

Now make the marshmallow mixture. Melt 3 tablespoons of butter in a medium sauce pan. Once the butter is melted add 3 cups of mini marshmallows. Stir until the marshmallows are melted. Turn off the heat. Add a couple of drops of yellow food coloring and mix until  the marshmallow mixture is a bright yellow. When you have a good yellow color, add in one very small drop of blue food coloring and stir.

This combination of food coloring should get you the perfect “Grinch Green” marshmallow mixture. Slowly pour the marshmallow mixture over the popcorn. Using a spoon, gently fold the marshmallow mixture in with the popcorn until the popcorn is mostly covered. Iron Man 2 Online Putlocker more.

The amount of marshmallow mixture you want to add is really up to your own taste. The more you add, the stickier the popcorn will be so we suggest that you add it a bit at a time, stir the popcorn and give it a taste before you add more. Now pour the popcorn onto a cookie sheet covered with foil or a silpat liner. Drizzle a little bit of the remaining marshmallow mixture over the popcorn but do not mix it up. This popcorn doesn’t keep very well so we suggest that you make it as close to the time you’re going to serve it as possible. UPDATE:  We’ve had a lot of questions about how long this popcorn lasts, if it stores well or if you can make it ahead and serve it later.

Our family loves this popcorn so it has never lasted longer than a day at our house. But we were curious so we tried a test. We made another batch and stored it on the counter in two different containers – one was an airtight plastic container and the other was a plastic ziplock bag. The popcorn definitely tasted best right after we made it but it actually was fine the next day too. It was a little chewier than the night before because the popcorn had absorbed some of the moisture from the marshmallow mixture but it still tasted good. Same thing for day three – we actually didn’t notice any difference in the taste from day 2 to day 3.

And it tasted the same after being store in either the plastic container or the ziplock bag. So our advice is … if as all possible you should make the popcorn right before you serve it but it will still taste good if it has been stored for a couple of days. So pretty and festive and perfect for a How the Grinch Stole Christmas themed movie night or as an extra Christmas party snack. My family is going to love the Grinch Popcorn.

It is sweet but salty and a little bit chocolatey.
